The Gamma Knife (tm) was created by Dr. Lars Leksell, a Swedish neurosurgeon, in 1968. Elekta was incorpated to develop the Gamma Knife, and it has become an indispensible neurosurgical tool in worldwide use. The term "Gamma Knife", which has come into popular usage, remains a trademark of Elekta.
Dr. Jonathan Borden has been the Director of the Boston Gamma Knife Center from its incorporation in 1999 until 2002, and the Northwest Regional Gamma Knife Center (Erie, PA) from 2003-2004. He currently practices in Cincinnati and performs Gamma Knife radiosurgery at the Wallace-Kettering Neuroscience Center.
